What IS a Horoscope? – Part 2

Posted on May 29, 2010
Rebecca Brents asked:

If you have most of your planets here, you are a subjective person, focused intently on personal growth — sometimes to the point of ignoring the outer world. This shows an extremely private, self-contained, inwardly directed character. Things outside yourself are less eventful, less interesting to you than what is happening in yourself and your individual world. You have rather narrow interests, a “domestic” orientation, and could be called moody and introspective.

Planets in the top half of the circle (or “above the horizon”) are elements you use in your public life. If you have most of your planets there, your soul is seeking growth and learning experiences primarily through social encounters. Matters of authority, career, social networking, and mutually controlled resources (all things not entirely under your own exclusive direction) will be your primary focus. You are more objective than subjective — possibly to the point of lacking an inward focus.

With most of your planets here, your interests and achievements may be quite ambitious and impressive, for out in the public arena, you are more likely (and perhaps more encouraged) to do things in a big way. After all, you want to attract attention. You are quite independent, considered to be “your own person,” proud of your image, and probably call yourself “lucky.” You are focused on professional areas, or activities that bring you recognition and status. Your own leadership and authority are issues for you, and you are actively looking for public approval and respect.

Planets on the left hand side of the circle (or “rising” — ascending — in your chart) symbolize elements you will consider very much under your control. They represent qualities and energies you use to manage your life, its experiences, and conditions. Planets here let you “call your own shots.”

With most of your planets here, you have what astrologers call a “destiny creating” chart. This pattern gives you the power to operate with a free hand, with little need (or perhaps even little ability) to take other people into account. You won’t depend on much outside yourself, your resources, your intelligence, your creative instincts, your intuitive talents, and your personal charisma to get you what you want. But you can be strangely (and infuriatingly, for those who have to deal with you) lacking in the ability to relate objectively to others.

You feel you are responsible to yourself (and perhaps no one else), that you create your own life and luck out of your own gumption, boldness and abilities, and your own willingness to make things happen … or forge opportunities. Your self-reliance is formidable. Your path is one of your own choice. But you may have problems managing yourself wisely — and tend to take on too much, because you feel so capable and in control of your destiny. A karmic astrologer sees this as a life in which you are shaping the conditions and lessons you will meet in the future.

Planets in the right hand side of the circle (or “setting” — descending — in your chart) are elements you consider “out of your hands,” beyond your control. They represent qualities brought into your life by other people, their choices, their needs, their actions. You may feel other people “pull your strings” — and there’s not much you can do but respond. Your life may seem re-active, more than active. You often feel more a victim of fate or circumstances than the “captain of your own soul’s journey.”

With most of your planets here, you have what astrologers call a “destiny reaping” chart. This pattern gives you a lot of people in your life you can use for mutual benefit. But it does mean you have to take them into account, that you find your life is “not entirely your own” to manage as you choose, and that you are often dependent on the responses and contributions of these other people to make progress, solve problems, or meet your needs. Along with the arrival of “other people” into the equation, come the “relationship issues and problems” they represent.

You look to others for direction, advice, moral support, and general input. You may find (or feel) you can’t act without some set-up or kick in the pants from someone else. It can lead to major dependency issues, and feelings of being “jerked around and whiplashed.”

It’s hard to have self-confidence and self-direction when this pattern describes your life. You may lack initiative — and you may have problems with self-awareness, self-definition, even self-image. This is constantly filtered through the information and views of others. You may feel your life is strangely “controlled” or “fated” by situations you did not create. You may feel that you are often imposed on by the requirements and crises of others — and that most problems in you life are caused by other people, not you. A karmic astrologer would see this as a life in which you are meeting conditions and lessons you fashioned for yourself in the past.

This is the merest tip of the iceberg of what a horoscope says about a person, available, as I said, at a glance. A horoscope is the collection of symbols that are blended to interpret the quirks, interests, talents, flaws, character, and destiny of a person, an event, or whatever. The short answer to the title question of this article is: a horoscope is a map of the sky, a snapshot taken at the moment of birth. The greater answer, however, is this: a horoscope is the blueprint of the energy unfolding from a point of creation in time — be that a marriage, a new job, a new business structure, a decision — or the arrival back into material reality of an evolving human soul.

Financial Astrology

Hanne Klein asked:

When you enter into a partnership whether it is a romantic, marriage or business partnership you will be wise to see if your partners planets have got some favorable aspects to your money planet. This is where financial astrology can assist you because this will strongly influence your relationship.

When we look at financial astrology we have to take into consideration that each planet has its own individual meaning and some planets are more powerful than others depending on how they are in aspect to the other money planets in your chart.

To give you an idea of how each planet will influence financial astrology I will present a list of the planet but first a bit about the Sun and the Moon. If your Sun is in one of your financial houses it will imply that you will derive a lot of pleasure in your skill to make money. The Moon in your financial houses indicate that you may be very emotional about making money and because you put so much feelings into it you will be very good at earning money but maybe also a bit anxious around security.

Financial astrology and the planet Mercury in your money house will give you a tendency to think a lot about the way you earn your money. This might very well be through some form of communication or the transport business.

Venus in one of your money houses, which by the way is the second and eight house in your horoscope, will indicate that it is important for you to enjoy what you do if you have to be successful in making money. Artistic talents or the entertaining area will probably charm your way through.

Mars in one of your financial astrology houses will suggest that you are keen to put a lot of energy and force into making money and you are eager to battle along to get where you want to go. Jupiter in one of the financial astrology houses is a very fortunate position to have in your chart. This is the “Happy go Lucky” planet and if you have this planetary position you will be optimistic about the way you make money and will most probably be successful in your trade.

Saturn in one of your financial astrology houses will suggest that you are ambitions and willing to work hard to reach your goal so you can feel secure. Uranus in this position will give you an original streak in your nature and have the ability to come up with some imaginative and inventive ideas that you might be able to cash in on.

When Neptune in this financial astrology position you will be able to benefit from your inspiration, art, oil and the liquor business for your moneymaking. Pluto here indicate that you are strong and resourceful in the way you choose to make your money.

Robbie Williams – What’s Up With Robbie?

Posted on May 28, 2010
Kathryn Cassidy asked:

Superstar Robbie Williams has been the cause of a media frenzy this week when it was reported he had pulled out of the South American leg of his World tour.

The latest news is that the tour is definitely still proceeding. However there is intense speculation as to Robbie’s current state of mind and his physical well-being. Various media sources are suggesting that he is suffering a complete mental breakdown and /or severe depression and needs to abandon the tour to receive intensive therapy.

Robbie is one of the UK’s most loved performers. His cheeky,’little boy lost’ persona combined with an overt, yet often ambiguous, sexual charisma has rendered him irresistible to the whole gamut of female’s (and males) from kindergarten to grave. Part of Robbie’s appeal is the juxtaposition of his incredible wealth, arrogance and fame against his very public battle to find self-worth. He is a high profile, and constant, reminder that money and celebrity do not guarantee happiness. So, can astrology offer any insight into what might be troubling Robbie now?

With a Sun/Jupiter conjunction in Aquarius, Robbie was never going to be a shy, retiring wallflower. He was always destined to ‘march to the beat of a different drummer’. This man really is ‘The Electric Showman’ personified. The ‘Robster’s’ Moon occupies the sign of Scorpio, one of the most intensely emotional and obsessive Moon placements, in opposition to his Mars in the stubborn sign of Taurus. This sets up a fixed opposition, which when joined by his Sun and Jupiter form a fixed T-square, whose outlet is through the dramatic and attention loving sign of Leo. Part of the conflict that this combination sets up is the need to be noticed, whilst also remaining private. It is indicative of someone who is very highly strung and full of erratic nervous energy that needs discharging. It is also common in the charts of people with obsessive/compulsive disorders.

The Aquarian side to this aspect pattern tells us that he will exhibit a deeply perverse and detached streak that is at odds with his deep emotions, unshakeable attachment to possessions, and anything that produces feelings of security. Basically, the fixed signs have problems with letting go. Whether it be the relinquishment of past resentments, friends who no longer enhance the life, bad habits or life routines that have become like living in a perpetual hamster wheel. When he does decide to let go or leave, it’s usually sudden and angrily – with a depth of emotion that surprises even him.

Robbie’s well documented pursuit of the perfect partner is hampered because he easily attracts women with his sexy, tactile Mars in Taurus, but has difficulty connecting with them emotionally. This I would suspect is due to his fear of deep commitment . He probably fears the ‘death’ of Robbie might ensue if he was to obsessively lose himself in someone else (opposition Moon Scorpio).

In her excellent book on aspects, Sue Tompkins describes the Taurus- Scorpio dichotomy as such; The Builder Vs The Saboteur. Placidity Vs Emotional storms. Security vs Temptation. The Status quo vs Crisis and *** vs Taboos. Anyone with even a passing knowledge of Robbie’s personality will know that all these apply. Furthermore the ruler of Robbie’s Sun/Jupiter combination is in the dualistic sign of Gemini in aspect to Uranus. This person really does feel like two people and his well publicised, periodic bouts of going off the rails, are a result of the polarities that exist within his nature.

We regularly witness the cocky, supremely confident chatty side that Robbie exhibits. In my opinion though this is the cause of his present troubles. In astrological thought, the Sun is symbolic of our outer persona – the person in the spotlight. The Moon is representative of the inner nature. In Robbie’s case the two are at odds and receiving multiple stressful aspects from other planets representing conflicting energies in his nature. In essence I believe that Robbies problems stem from a lack of authenticity. He is one person in public, but a completely different one in private. He alerts us to this through his lyrics but is unable to express this in his everyday life. The irony of this is that it renders this songster as feeling psychologically mute. (Saturn in Gemini) Here’s a man whose words are listened to by millions but he probably struggles to feel really ‘heard’ and understood by those he loves.

It’s all very well being able to read a birthchart and reveal information about someone’s personality. The real value of astrology however is in the ability to offer solutions as to how to live with all the different facets of one’s personality. The ability to downplay the negative but to accentuate the positive traits (but to accept both as valid) is required.

In my opinion, one-off consultations with astrologers, or any type of counsellor/therapist, is the equivalent of sticking a band aid on a gaping wound. It will only help in the short term. In order to grow, a person needs support and advice in the the form of life coaching and/or ongoing dialogue and interchange to learn how to amalgamate opposing character traits. Pluto knocking on the door of his solar 11th house tells us that the correct therapy would be invaluable to Robbie at this juncture.

Transits involving Saturn are alerting us to the fact that Robbie really has reached a juncture where he has to face up to his depression and take responsibility for his life. He may be confronted by the need to learn emotional independence and find a more supportive structure through which he can channel his talents. But, if he’s willing to go within, he’ll find a new maturity now. With help and guidance Robbie will pull out of this current abyss. Whatever his personal choices, our love and support for him will endure.

Career Astrology

Diwakar Vashist asked:

Complexity of professions is assuming a more and more bewildering nature. To indicate exact means of livelihood, though the horoscope depends upon blending of the influences of planets, signs and houses and there too it would be very difficult to predict with exactitude.

We may say a man would be an engineer, but whether a civil, mechanical, electrical, mining or textile engineer, will depend upon the planet that has the greatest influence in livelihood. Another question that poses itself is whether a person would have the same source of livelihood throughout his life.
Many persons start their career in service and later do well in their own business. Further, in finding means of livelihood, can we make a distinction between salary and pension? Many retired servants enter business but most of them either enter private service or live on pension and savings or rent on buildings they own or have built. It is very difficult to analyses all factors carefully and predicts the tendencies governing one’s livelihood. Like any other sciences, astrology too has its own limitations. We have to realize it and it is the duty of those deeply interested in the science to increase its utility to society by earnest research and selfless efforts.

In the matter of astrologically judging and determining different mundane houses are allotted to the different needs of Kalapurusha or the individual. There is one house for wealth, another for patrimony, the other for income, etc. There is one house; Karma viz. the 10th (midheaven) Karma is very broad term. Karma means the sum total of the good and bad deeds at our credit when we are born on this planet. Livelihood or avocation is only one facet of the term karma. Karma is not merely avocation but is a comprehensive term.

The twelve houses indicate different activities in the world. A professional means of earning a livelihood may be determined by the houses and planets which are prominent in a horoscope. If the 1st is strong, the native will earn by his personal efforts. If the 2nd is strong articles of food or speech would play a prominent part. The 3rd determines courage, brothers, heroic valour, communication, writing, short travel, etc. If the 3rd is strong and has connected with the 10th, the person may earn through writings and short travel. He may run a big business, may serve in army. If the 10th lord is connected with the 4th house and indications are strong, the person may get income from house or motor vehicle. The 5th has reference to learning, counsel, speculation, and games of chance. The harmonious dispositions of the 10th and the 5th indicate earnings through above means. The 6th represents sickness or diseases, if the 6th houses is connected to the 10th and the horoscope indicates medical studies the person may be a doctor by profession.

When the 8th and the 10th lords are connected the person may earn through foreign business or from property got through legacy. The 9th indications would be connected with the foreigners’ foreign lands, law, religion etc. The connected between the 9th and the 10th may bring earnings through practice of law or the person may become religious head or may earn through teaching or preaching.
The profession or occupation of a native is generally judged from the planet or planets occupying the 10th house and if there should be none there, from those in the 1st and also from those aspecting the Sun and the Moon.

Brihat Jataka. Adh. X. XL. 4, states the gain of money from livelihood should be ascertained from the strong benefic planets occupying the Ascendant.

Which Element of the Horoscope are You?

Posted on May 28, 2010
Alma De La Cruz asked:

No doubt that millions of persons begin their journey rushing through the newspapers to see the daily horoscope. We want the horoscope to tell us positive things will happen in the next 24 hours, like how will somebody look at us nicely, how fast we will be rich, or our love compatibility. In contrast, we are less interested to come up with a horror-scope like ‘today is not your day for love, business deals are not in the stars for you today.’

But first of all, which element of the horoscope are You? Hmm… don’t really know what the horoscope is? Well, the horoscope is an astrological chart for a specific person or group that correlates each zodiac sign as they are crossed by the Sun, Moon and planets and the position of planets in astrology. Now, the elements Fire, Earth, Air and Water are based on ancient Greek philosophy; they are the building blocks of life: the solid earth upon which we stand, the running water we use as a resource, the air we breathe and the fire which keeps us warm and aids in the creation of additional resources. The horoscope elements reflect a quality of human nature and correspond also with the Tarot: Fire = Wands; Earth = Coins; Air = Swords; Water = Cups.

Here are the list of the Sun Signs elements, but if you still don’t know, ask mom for your birthday and keep reading this:

1. Earth Signs

Well-grounded, and realistic, your earth sign makes sure you stay in the real world. When it comes to friendship, no-one is more rock steady than you. A builder of long-lasting bonds, you are talented in business and good with money. You find fulfillment in seeing tangible results for your efforts.

Earth signs are: Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn.

Taurus (April 21 – May 21): They are faithful and generous friends with a great capacity for affection, but rarely make friends with anyone outside their social rank. The ruling planet for Taurus is Venus; the color of choice is Pink, and its star stone is the Emerald.

Virgo (August 23 – September 23): They need the stimulus of practical problems to be solved rather than the mere routine or working to set specifications that need no thought. The ruling planet for Virgo is Mercury; the colors are Green and Dark Brown, and its star stone is the Sardonyx.

Capricorn (December 22 – January 20): They plan carefully to fulfill their ambitions; they are economical without meanness, and able to achieve great results due to their organizing ability. The ruling planet for Capricorn is Saturn; the color of choice is Brown, and its star stone is the Black Onyx.

2. Fire Signs

These three are the sexiest signs in the Horoscope. Enthusiastic and creative, courageous and spontaneous, confident and fun-loving, you are ardent in love. Other cooler signs may be dazzled by your bright flame.
Fire signs are: Leo, Aries and Sagittarius.

Leo (July 23 – August 22): Their personal magnetism and innate courtesy of mind bring out the best of loyalty from subordinates. The ruling planet for Leo is the Sun; the color of choice is Gold, and its star stone is the red Ruby.

Aries (March 21 – April 20): The Arian is a pioneer both in thought and action, adventurous, ambitious, and impulsive. The ruling planet for Aries is Mars; the color of choice is Red, and its star stone is the precious Diamond.

Sagittarius (November 23 – December 21): Their strongly idealistic natures can also suffer many disappointments without being affected. The ruling planet for Sagittarius is Jupiter; the color of choice is the Rich Purple, and its star stone is the Topaz.

3. Air Signs

These three are the most intellectual signs of the Horoscope. Their skills make them great thinkers and problems solvers.

Air signs are: Gemini, Libra and Aquarius.

Gemini (May 22 – June 21): Since they lack the quality of conscientiousness, they are apt to fight a losing battle in any attempts they make to be moral. The ruling planet for Gemini is Mercury; the color of choice is Green, and its star stone is the Agate.

Libra (September 24 – October 23): Librans are sensitive and have the psychic gift of understanding the emotional needs of their companions and meeting them with their own innate optimism. The ruling planet for Libra is Venus; the color of choice is Blues, and its star stone is the Sapphire.

Aquarius (January 21 – February 19): Many are psychically intuitive to the Age of Aquarius, an age in which mankind will experience a great spiritual awakening. The ruling planet for Aquarius is Uranus; the color of choice is Turquoise, and its star stone is the Turquoise.

4. Water Signs

These three always stay tuned to their feelings, conscious and subconscious, with a level of intuitiveness sometimes bordering on the psychic. Water is the element of the poet, which have them ready to interpret the universe.

Air signs are: Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces.

Cancer (June 22 – July 22): The Cancerian character is the least clear-cut of all those associated with the signs of the zodiac: It can range from the timid, dull, shy and withdrawn to the most brilliant, and famous. The ruling planet for Cancer is the Moon; the color of choice is Silver, and its star stone is the Pearl.

Scorpio (October 24 – November 22): They are like a volcano; they can erupt at any moment. Their tenacity and willpower are immense. The ruling planet for Scorpio is Pluto; the color of choice is dark Red to Maroon, and its star stone is Opal.

Pisces (February 20 – March 20): They are more readily concerned with the problems of others than with their own. Their psychic and spiritual qualities can lead them into careers in the church or as mediums and mystics. They are also sexually delicate. The ruling planet for Pisces is Neptune; the color of choice is soft Sea Green, and its star stone is the Moonstone.

Characteristics Of The Zodiac Moon In Pisces

Posted on May 28, 2010
Victor Epand asked:

The Sun is the planet that zodiac novices are most interested in. But the moon is equally important in a chart. This planet relates to the world of emotions, including the nature embedded by nature, nurture and memory. It resides in the subconscious and deals with how a person relates to those around them. The characteristics in this sign might not be apparent to the person they refer to since they reside so deeply in the mind. Others are often better able to recognize these traits, as they are put out there into the world more than they are reflected upon.

A person who has their Moon in Pisces has a sensitive, imaginative and perceptive nature. There is a dreamy, optimistic viewpoint associated with this sign that can have them looking out at the world through rose colored glasses. This especially applies to how they view other people. It can be extremely hard for this person to recognize the faults in others- especially those they hold close to their hearts. This person will be completely open and trusting to the point that it is easy for others to take advantage. It hurts for this person to be let down by another but it is not a lesson they learn for long. Like a young puppy, they forget a slight easily and come bouncing back with enthusiasm. Remarkably, the karma in the world usually keeps this person safe from having too severe of “wake up” calls put into their path.

The world is a wide open place full of possibilities and wonder to a person whose Moon is in Pisces. If the notion of obstacles even enters their mindset, they are seen as easily conquered blips on the radar. This sign carries with it the notions of black and white, good and bad, knights on white horses and princesses in towers. A romantic soul is open to a lot of damage in the modern world but they are surprisingly able to take it without harming their spirit. Continuing to believe in magic and wonder is much more practical to this person than to be bogged down with realism and details.

This sign has great instincts of the “gut” variety- meaning that there is neither analysis nor criticism behind it. They are so sensitive to their environment that they can actually pick up on the emotions of others to the point they fell them as well. Sympathy and compassion are born of this characteristic. They do hold others to impossible standards but that critical eye is pointed inward as well. A lack of perfection on their part leads them to feel down or less than capable. In rare cases this person can become so down on themselves based on their supposed flaws that it becomes a neurosis, outweighing all of the optimism that normally resides in this sign. But this usually only happens if a lot of emotional and mental damage was done in early childhood when the psyche hadn’t yet had time to develop its resilience.

Training Your Voice for Better Singing

Posted on May 27, 2010
Bob Pardue asked:

Your voice is unique to you and you alone. Don’t make the mistake of trying to emulate others. Yes, your sound might be similar to a famous singer, but do you really think the general public wants a counterfeit? They want unique and new, and the music industry is an ever-changing business world. So to fit in, you’ll have to develop that unique voice inside… that’s just waiting to be fully-developed!

The best way to train your voice is to work on it one point at a time. Practice in one area until you master it, and then work on another. Below are three key areas of voice training that will help you give a brilliant performance.

The Power of Your Voice

The first step recommended for training is to improve your voice power. Your voice should be energetic and offer a pleasant sound. It should not be tense, nervous, or weak. This aspect of training will involve learning about the voice and how it works, learning to breathe properly while singing, learning to use singing techniques, building singing confidence, and overcoming anxiety while singing in public.

Train Your Voice Accents

The next step in training your voice for greatness is to learn to train your voice accents. Your voice should not be difficult to understand for the listener while talking or singing. Learning to speak more clearly (without a strong accent) will help your singing voice to be clearer as well. Concentrate on speaking clear American English. Practice pronunciation and expand your vocabulary knowledge. Learn to accentuate your voice on demand so you can set the mood while singing. In other words, control your voice instead of your voice controlling you.

Voice Training for Performance

Once you’ve mastered the preliminary voice training, you’re ready to discover tools for singing success. Learn to deliver your voice in a blend of falsetto and head voice to create a clear, smooth sound no matter what tone is used. Practice voice delivery with many different tones and octaves, various standing positions, and in a variety of places to get the feel for different atmospheres.

Train your voice to reach new “highs and lows” through practice. You might be surprised at just how far up or down it can go.

All these techniques can be learned through self-help courses or by enrolling in classes with a professional voice trainer. If you feel uncomfortable singing in front of a group of people, voice training might be just what you need to overcome your singing fears!

Ba Zi (or 4 Pillars) Fundamentals

Posted on May 27, 2010
Ken Toh J asked:

Ba Zi literally means 8 character. The 8 characters refers to the 4 Heavenly Stems and 4 Earthly Branches of our birth time. The year, day, month and time of our birth can be converted using the Chinese Solar calendar into 4 Heavenly Stems and 4 Earthly Branches each.

Fundamentals of Ba Zi consist of:

o Yin and Yang (sometimes referred to as polarity)

o 5 elements (Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, Earth)

o 10 Heavenly Stems

o 12 Earthly Branches

o 24 Solar Periods

o 12 Qi phases

o 10 Gods

o Shen Sha (Deities & Gods or others termed Stars)

o Imagery

Ba Zi can be divided into 4 pillars (Year, Month, Day & Hour) and each pillar consist of 1 Heavenly Stem and 1 Earthly Branch. Traditionally the chart is written from right to left, starting with the Year Pillar on the right.
Further to the imagery part, this is a list of Heavenly Stem and their image.

Jia – Trees

Yi – Flowers; shrubs

Bing – Sun

Ding – Fire

Wu – Mountains, stones

Ji – Soil

Geng – Axe

Xin – Scissors/Jewellery

Ren – Sea

Gui – Clouds; dew

It is useful during analysis to link the image back to chart

The earthly branches and their corresponding zodiac sign (which laymen are more familiar with) as as below:

Zi/Rat

Chou/Ox

Yin/Tiger

Mao/Rabbit

Chen/Dragon

Si/Snake

Wu/Horse

Wei/Sheep

Shen/Monkey

You/Rooster

Xu/Dog

Hai/Pig

All the branches have some form of relationship or inclination among themselves. The commonly used combinations are:

Jagged Edge Hard Rock Music CD Review

Posted on May 27, 2010
Tom Milson asked:

The super talented group Jagged Edge have released their most recent CD on the Columbia recording label, entitled Hard.

Jagged Edge have been a super stars in the Rock genre for quite a while now and Hard is an excellent illustration as to why.

Hard has a nicely varied, mix of 15 tracks that are very well written and brilliantly performed songs by these clearly superb musicians. With many of the songs displaying a lot of the kind emotion that makes for a really great listen. Clearly drawing from what I can only imagine are their own personal experiences. At different points touching on the most real emotions of love, and the pain of failed relationships can certainly be heard.

Overall Hard is a solid release. Quite possibly Jagged Edge’s best to date. Really sensational from beginning to end. If you’re even mildly into Rock music you’ll enjoy this CD.

While this entire CD is really very good the truly standout tunes are track 2 – Walked Outta Heaven, track 7 – Trying To Find The Words, and track 15 – They Ain’t JE – Remix.

My Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 1 – They Ain’t JE. Wow!

Will You Ever Marry? Does the Birth Chart Tell Us?

Posted on May 27, 2010
Donna Cunningham asked:

So many astrology clients want me to tell them whether they’ll ever marry or not. Having followed many clients’ and friends’ charts’ over the past 40 years, I’ve come to believe that astrology isn’t the best predictor of whether an individual will meet and commit to a partner. HISTORY is a better predictor, and the astrologer who doesn’t get a relationship history from the client is likely to prove inaccurate. What I’ve observed is that there are relationship-prone people and people who are not relationship-prone.

The person who isn’t relationship-prone could have transits or progressions that look ideal for love and not meet a soul, much less a soul mate. Relationship-prone people can have either the worst or the most piddling aspects for romance, and they fall head over heels and hook up with a partner. Go figure. That said, the chart does tell much about the romantic obstacles to be overcome.

In particular, there are differences among the outer planet aspects to Venus in their degree of willingness to commit to a partnership. Venus-Uranus types above all else want freedom and independence, and so they often engage in a seemingly endless series of short-term attractions until they find someone who can give them room to keep growing and exploring themselves and their potential.

Like most aspects involving Pluto, Venus-Pluto people can fit into one of two extremes, either totally, compulsively joined at the hip with a partner or-having been badly burned-totally turned off to the idea of having a relationship at all. Venus-Neptune types don’t just want to commit, they want to merge, so they can become addicted to love and immerse themselves in one codependent relationship after another. Libra is the sign most driven to form committed relationships, but having the outer planets in Libra can present challenges in the quest for a lasting partnership.

Neptune in Libra-the sign for a generation of people born between 1942-55–is similar in its effects to a Venus-Neptune aspect. The tension for the Neptune in Libra generation has been one on one partnership versus universal oneness with everything. Their ideal of love is to experience complete oneness with the partner. The quest is very painful for them, as their paradigm for love is the 1950s Hollywood romance-we are shaped by the culture around us as we grow up, as reflected by the outer planets’ signs.

The generation born with Pluto in Libra (1971-84) was the first to experience widespread fragmentation of the family. As they grew up, divorce statistics gradually reached as high as 50% in some areas of the U.S. With Libra as a keynote, many of those with Pluto prominent labored to keep peace between their warring parents. They were often caught in the middle in a bitter aftermath, suffering through stressful situations such as dual custody, their parents’ serial marriages, multiple step-parents, and fathers who moved away and lost contact following the divorce. As a result, many of them are fearful of getting involved in adult partnerships.

For the Pluto in Libra generation, physical attractiveness, even perfection, is a talisman against romantic woes. Though this particular talisman works no better than most, these people can be obsessed with looks and with costly, ever-changing fashion. The incidence of anorexia and bulimia continues to rise, and ****** implants are a growth industry, even among teens. From childhood on, the media has bombarded them with the message that the only way to find love and social acceptance is to be beautiful. Not all Pluto in Libra people are fashion slaves-Grunge and Goth exist in part in protest against these values.)

People with Venus-Saturn aspects are gravely reluctant to enter into a partnership for several reasons. For one, they would find it a binding agreement that entails a lifetime commitment and tremendous responsibility. Second, they are extremely conscious of roles in general and the traditional male-female roles of spouse and parent in particular, and so in committing to a partner they would also be committing to a role that they may or may not wish to fulfill. For many of them, their career represents a deeper level of soul commitment and entering into a relationship and parenthood would detract from it. Finally, Venus-Saturn individuals believe that you have to earn love by working hard at it and generally don’t believe that they are inherently lovable. To avoid the rejection they anticipate, they may retreat behind walls and focus on a career.

When an individual fits into the not relationship prone category, healing work is often needed to change a decision about relationships that they have made at a very deep level. One major barrier to a relationship in this lifetime is a vow of either chastity or eternal commitment to a particular soul. Such vows may not be conscious ones, but they hold great power and need to be revoked consciously and explicitly in some form of ritual in order for a new relationship to be possible.

For instance, I often find that at a very deep level, people with Venus in Virgo or Virgo planets in the relationship houses (7th, 8th, and 5th) take their wedding vows extremely seriously and remain faithful, even long after a divorce. Doing a conscious revocation of the vows can shift the situation so that they are once again available for a commitment.

If you suspect that you are still bound by vows that have outlasted their relevancy to your life, you may need to make a conscious re-decision about that before you can allow yourself a second marriage. To do so, you might use the technique of writing a canceling-out and reprogramming statement 70 times a day for 7 days–something like, ‘I revoke the vow of eternal fidelity I made to my mate.’

Would you like an in-depth interpretation of your own Venus and what it says about your relationships? A consultation with a professional astrologer–preferably one with a psychological or counseling background–can prove enlightening.
